People write me all the time asking about group conversations.
I feel their pain. Group interactions can be tough. When I was first learning all of this charisma stuff, I dealt with something very similar to the emails I get today.
I felt great one-on-one. In a private conversation or an intimate setting, I could have fun, I could make people laugh, and I could really connect.
But in groups of 5 or 6 people, I’d get lost.
I wouldn’t know how to get into conversation, I’d have thoughts in my head but not know how to be heard without feeling like I was just blurting things out or cutting people off.
Basically, I’d get stuck in my head and overthink it.
Luckily, it’s a very solvable problem!
And when you know how to do it, it’s quite easy to shine in group settings and be a natural conversational leader that people love to be around.
The best part is, you can do it without dominating the conversation. Although you can if you want to ;-)
